Need restaurant near Newark Airport for Sunday lunch

My family and additional relatives totaling about 20 to 25 people will be observing the anniversary of my mother's death at a cemetery across from Newark Airport in a few weeks. We will want to go to lunch after the religious service. I can only think of the various hotels that serve airport travelers, but I hate spending money on mediocre food. It would probably be more interesting to go to one of the restaurants in the Ironbound section, but I am not sure if the attendees will be willing to stray off the highway. Just thought that I would approach my fellow chowhounders to see if anybody has any suggestions. Thanks for your help!

Fernandes Steakhouse in Newark is a great place and they have an upstairs room to accommodate larger parties. I highly recommend this restaurant and many on here can vouch for it. www.fernandessteakhouse.com/

Adega Grill on Ferry Street (4 blocks down Ferry off of Rt 21--about as direct as you can get from EWR!) has a private room that would be perfect for a gathering like this, and their prices are VERY reasonable--and they'll serve family style. They also have a parking lot 1/2 block away and validate the tickets. That would be my recommendation!

Love this place!! Portugal Express in Elizabeth. Right off of rt. 1 in Elizabeth, but you will have to call restaurant if you choose to go here. It is not a very large space, and Sundays seem to be a family day here. Excellent food!!
