Pizza & Brew - Scarsdale

Does any one know if they are under renovation? Or have they closed?

Oh no! That *is* said. Their fusilli di mama was always our favorite. They probably don't have it on their menu. Was anything good? I'd like to give it a try, for nostalgia's sake.

Nice work, pabboy. I wonder if it's purely cosmetic or food-related as well.

Thanks, pabboy! Much better news! I'm sorry to hear of the owner's passing. Glad to hear they're still carrying on his plans. I'm looking forward to taking my little ones there when they reopen. I loved the food and they were always so nice to me there when I was a kid.

Oh good... that explains why the sign was down! DH and I passed by there last night and were a little worried. We both have fond memories of the place since we were kids.

They are posting updates on their Facebook page, if anyone is inclined to "like" it.

Does anyone know why they closed Spiga's? That place was always packed.....

Re Spiga--a good question. I'm wondering if the new place is going to be a composite of both restaurants.

Spiga is to become Ben's Deli according to Town of Greenburgh.

The P and B in Rye Ridge changed its name a couple of years ago --maybe it's all part of a rethinkng the brand -- that Pizza and Brew sounds too limited.??

I thought that the Rye Ridge P&B was bought out by someone --I can't remember what it was called.

In Rye Ridge Pizza & Brew became Racinelli's several years ago. I heard the family split up the restaurants then I read that there was a lawsuit after one of the founding brothers died.

The P & B in Rye Ridge aka Racanelli's is fair at best...ugh!! A place to eat if you are positively starving and that's it. The service is awful, the food is not consistent- the chicken in the salads always tastes "off". Yuck
While I have very fond memories of my years and years at the P& B in Scarsdale...birthday parties, ice cream after school concerts, late-r night pizza...if they couldnt keep up with the times, then smart for them to re-brand. But a name will only do so much. The food has to actually be GOOD to make customers want to return.

That is definitely depressing. I've had countless dinners with my family there. Even had my 10th birthday party there in the 80s. Lots of good memories too. I can't imagine that they weren't doing well. Wonder what happened. :o(

That location is no longer listed on the Racanelli website.

I first went there about 30 years ago. Loved it then. Even though we haven't been there in ages, just the idea that they're gone is depressing.

I remember it well. Lots of dates in high school there.. carvel is gone. one by one these places are disappearing. i heard that they are leveling the nathans on central avenue and building a strip center with a small nathens on one end.

That's depressing as well. I remember going there in the 70s when they had their deli counter and bakery. I also remember the fortune-telling machine in the arcade. It was just like the one in "Big," but the fortune teller was female.

I guess this officially makes me an old lady.

Not at all, foodiemom! I remember it too! It will be so sad driving down Central Ave knowing our P&B is gone.

I did use them as a landmark if someone was driving up Central looking for Ardsley Road: "If you pass Pizza and Brew, you've gone too far." ;)
