Mailing cookies to Ireland

Can I mail homemade cookies to Dublin? Are there regulations on shipping food overseas, either from US or Ireland government?

And if there are restrictions can someone point me to a gov website where I can find the info? Want to send some treats to my friend in Dublin who is recovering from an illness and I don't know if that's possible.

Thanks.

It looks like cookies/ biscuits are ok to send for personal use. See #6 under "Personal imports into Ireland from a Third Country" from the Food Safety Authority of Ireland. http://www.fsai.ie/faq/import_export....

Here's a link to Ireland's Customs, which has some information about food imports:

There's no specific mention of biscuits but I'd doubt whether any EU country had restrictions on them. There's an email address so you could ask the question.
