Hi all!

Has anybody tried the Red Star Platinum Yeast? http://www.redstaryeast.com/platinum I saw it on the shelf at my grocery store - FOUR times the price of a regular 3 pack strip.

Just wondering what the big deal is with this yeast.

I haven't tried it, I use SAF instant and for sweet doughs I use SAF Gold instant. Their product information page explains it though.

a premium instant yeast blended with dough improvers commonly used by professional bakers that will make your dough so forgiving that you will never be intimidated by yeast again!

So it's yeast with dough enhancers in it. KAF sells dough enhancers if you want to try them

I buy a pound of Red Star active dry and I use it for all yeasted products. I fail to see what the platinum yeast offers that would be worth the higher price. If I need more yeast food than is included in the flour that I am using I can add that as needed.
