TJ's Spinach and Kale pie- what's the deal?

I have cooked this a half dozen times and after the 45 minute suggested cooking time it is still dead cold in the middle. My oven temp is fine. Have others had this experience? Needs at least an hour.

  1. Yep, same thing here. It's been 45 minutes and it's still nearly frozen in the middle. This is the second time I've cooked it and I can't remember how long it took last time, but I vaguely recall having to put foil over the top to keep it from burning because it took so long to cook through.

    1. you need to take it out of that dish container and cook it on a sheet pan. that's how i saw them do it at demo. i cooked it first time like that, and it came out fine -- in maybe 50 minutes. second time, i left it in the container, and it took forever.

Hey, that's a good idea! That old spinach pie had a cardboard cover and I think it made a big difference keeping the heat in. The sheet pan would keep the bottom from getting soggy, too, which was a bit of a problem with the one today. It took an hour and ten minutes. Thanks!

          yes, dump the cardboard!

do cook the pie just from frozen. my first one spread a bit because it had slightly defrosted.
