need rec for anniversary. whats hot and recently new (opened within the last 18 months or so)

going on year #4 with the wife!
1st year: Providence
2: Hatfields
3. Ink
4....? any suggestions? was thinking Playa, Red Medicine, Sotto or Saam. Any suggestions?

The only thing is no sushi. everything else in play. up to $100 or so for the food per person is okay.

Spago would be lovely....but Red Medicine, I believe, is the most exciting food restaurant in L A these days. Awfully good. That uni porridge is a religious experience. Great cocktails, too....

Sushi isn't in the cards, according to OP (though I know they serve non-sushi dishes).

OP, I've been to Red Medicine, Hatfield's, and Providence, and I've wanted to go back to RM much more than the other two places, for what that's worth (not that I didn't enjoy the other two places). I also kinda see a progression from more upscale as far as ambiance (Providence) to more casual (Ink) for your anniversary, and I think RM would continue the trend.

Animal or Son of a Gun would be great. Baco Mercat, too.

They're not as fancy as Providence, more along the vibe of Ink. But definitely three of my favorite new restaurants in LA.

Baco is not IMO an anniversary place. The new Spago would be a good call. I love Sotto.
