21ST BIRTHDAY CELEBRATION

OUR TWINS WILL TURN 21 IN A FEW WEEKS. ONE IS AT COLLEGE IN THE BOSTON AREA. THE OTHER IN NYC AND IS COMING WITH US FOR A FAMILY CELEBRATION. WE ARE ON A LUXURY BUDGET BUT WANT SOMETHING YOUNG AND FUN. MAYBE IN THE NORTH END?

What's with all the yelling?

Anyways, when I think young and fun I think Toro. That comes with usual caveat that they don't take reservations and the wait at peak times on Friday & Saturday nights can be mildly outrageous.

For a 21st birthday (outside of cambridge due to Head of the Charles), my suggestions would include: Masa, Eastern Standard, Island Creek Oyster Bar, Citizen, Towne, Scampo. They each have reliable food and fun, lively young atmospheres. Some may be less luxuarious than others, but I geared my suggestions towards the guests of honor.

There is nothing that is simultaneously young, fun and luxury in the North End.

What weekend is this celebration? If it's Oct 20-21, you may be out of luck as that weekend is Head of the Charles and most of the better restaurants are booked already.

I'd say that Bricco is young, fun, and fits the "luxury" well enough. The one thing sorely lacking in the North End is a cocktail program. First to market on that front should enjoy a nice little surge.

As to your second point, that's just not true... Here's a short list w/ open tables for 4 at/around 8PM on the 20th.

Del Frisco - my fave of the steakhouse chains esp if they are boys since the waitstaff is dressed rather, uh, playfully. Great bar scene in the area and centrally located.
