Bombolini at Il Buco

I stopped in after shopping at the Japanese meat market a few stores down and had their bombolini. It was so good, so excellent that I will break a rule and recommend it before three tries. Stop in mid bite fresh feather light fried with a soft skin, wonderful texture and flavor inside. No custard or jam filling and as much as I love those here I didn't miss them. One of the stellar donuts of my life

  1. Today they were out of Bombolini, so I tried the seasonal fruit Crostata which was sad thing, dull, muted fruit flavor on a dough so near stale in flavor and texture that I asked if it was fresh. The nice counter man suggested the lush white chocolate brioche which was fine. I'll hold out for the bobmolini.

    1. After three Bombolini visits I'm sold on these as the best. Again remember that the ones here I've had are not filled, and don't need to be. Of course to a lover of cream fillings it would be great to see how these would fare if filled.

      1. They sound extraordinary! And I'm moved by the doughnut-inspired verse. Thanks for bringing to my attention.

        1. Since the first post I've returned often and found the bombolini always excellent. Yesterday's is no exception.
