Milwaukee - Farmers markets

petruschka Sep 28, 2012 07:08 AM

Husband and I are moving to downtown Milwaukee (from Michigan) at year end and are interested in finding a robust local farmers market. We stopped by the Cathedral Square market last Saturday and it was pretty disappointing. Any suggestions?

Most by me are very disappointing this year. However, the West Allis farmer's market is the best by far.

For more info on the West Allis one, see www.westalliswi.gov/index.aspx?NID=201

Also, 80 miles is a bit far to travel every week, but the farmers market in Madison is truly outstanding. It's worth making the trip at least once, just to check it out. It's held on the square surrounding the state capitol. www.madisonfarmersmarket.com

I have heard a ton of good things about Waukesha's farmers market, but haven't had time to go yet. Saturdays through end of October. http://www.downtownwaukesha.com/farme...

I found it very limited with only a few offering their own foodstuffs.

But I am use to the markets in Europe.
