Royal Kabab in Gambrills, MD -- anyone tried it?

  • 2

I love Indian food but never get to eat it now that I've moved to Crofton. This place is located in a BP station on Route 3/Crain Highway. I'm not sure how long it's been around, but I just noticed it a few weeks ago. I would be so happy if there was a good Indian restaurant nearby!

  1. Just came back from dinner there tonight -- our second visit. This place is great! Well, the food is great, the place...you are eating in a 7-11 basically. It's a BP gas station store with a Subway right next to Royal Kabob.

But the food is extraordinarily good. We had two appetizer, chicken wings (good) and vegetable pakora (extremely good). My girlfriend had lamb biriyani -- a rice dish and loved it. I had lamb saag, which was the best I've ever had. In both dishes the lamb was tender, moist and tasty, unlike many places where the lamb tends to be tough and dry. And the saag was great.

Entrees come with a little salad (not worth eating), a side of very good rice and a basket of excellent naan. For $9-$12 you eat like a king/queen. But no alcohol. there is zero ambiance and its styrofoam and plastic ware, but the people are very nice and so far they are two out of two for us on dinners.

As long as you are ready for the experience I would highly recommend having the best Indian food within a very large radius. I'll never go back to India and Basmati in Annapolis where we live, knowing that we can eat at Royal Kabob. Although I wish they pappadum.

Thanks so much for the review! I just mentioned this place to an Indian food-loving friend yesterday but said I hadn't tried it and didn't know if it was good. I'll definitely check it out soon!
