2 questions for Fort Lauderdale chowhounds
I'm visiting from Texas and have this hankering for coconut shrimp. We are staying on the beach in Fort Lauderdale, around 17th street I think. Any suggestions to quell my hankering? Also, is Primanti Brothers worth the price of admission, and can a non-meat eater find happiness there? (she eats chicken and fish, just not beef and pork.

It's hard to beat Coconut's for both the coconut shrimp and the view!

Aruba BeachCafe at the end of Commercial Blvd in Lauderdale by the Sea has a nice setting and good coconut shrimp.
Along 17th Street, there's Kelly's Landing which has good New England style seafood, but I can't recall if they have coconut shrimp. 15th Street Fisheries does have coconut shrimp on its dockside menu.
Primati Bros. has mostly meats, but they do have an sardine sandwich and a tuna sandwich and some salads. Here's a link http://primantibros.com/02menu.html The one near the beach is better atomosphere wise than the other two.
