Kid-Friendly AND Foodie-Friendly in Houston? Suggestions?

I am looking for a place to go on Saturday night that is kid-friendly but also has good, well prepared, interesting food. Our tastes are limitless and endless so when it comes to preference we have none as long as it's tasty and well prepared.

My kids are usually in the category of "best behaved kids" in the restaurant but I still rather not risk it when going to finer dining places or, dare I say, hipper places (I don't want to kill some guys' scene).

However, just because we have kids doesn't mean we should be confined solely to the mass marketed, mostly homogenized chain factories of Sugar Land and Katy (I said mostly, there are some good spots out there). So I'd love some help compiling a list of some good places in town that people won't give you shocked looks if you bring a kid in but also has some great interesting chow.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

You might take a look at a regular column written by one Nicholas Hall called Defcon Dining about dining out with his two little girls in Houston. Here's one and you can search the publication for others.
