Do You Love Saffron+Sugar+Cardamom+Pistachios?

OMG, if you do, then I have a major experience for you. Take Tocanini's Saffron Ice Cream and combine it with Christina's Kulfi ice cream, and you have something similar to but less rich than the Indian dessert, Kesar Pista. It can be found in the freezer at EZ Indian Market in Woburn Ctr. and Little India Market by the Somerville Market Basket. It is made of milk and cream and the above ingredients and basically has the texture and mouth feel of an especially luscious pot de creme of cardamom, saffron and pistachio, with a distinct tang of lemon or yoghurt. Incredibly rich and creamy perfect. (But no eggs- go figure.) Directions are to defrost it a few hours, but eating it frozen/cold is like having frozen pudding or frozen custard. Man o man, i have to stay away from this stuff (she said, having gone out earlier to stock up on it :-} )Orange box, " Deep" brand.

  1. Of course, if you're at Toscanini's, you can get their saffron and their Kulfi ice creams, and mix together at will. If you don't see the kulfi, just ask, they often have a few containers in their freezer.

NIce try, gg, but it's not the same! This Indian stuff is MEGA richer than T's ice cream!

      Just sayin'.

Oops, I misread your post; I thought you were combining two ice creams to make a facsimile of the Indian dessert, not telling us the Indian dessert was like a combo of the too...My bad...But man, I totally adore Tosci's Kulfi...
