Anyone have the scoop on Gascogne closing?

We're about to make our annual trip to NYC and I'm crushed to find Gascogne is "Closed indefinitely", according to their website. First Le Madeleine, now Gascogne...my wife and I seem to be poison to French restaurants. Now I'll have to find cassoulet somewhere else. Looking at Le Gigot...I'll try to keep from driving them out of business.

For cassoulet try La Sirene, Benoit or Cercle Rouge

Other places you might like for great bistro food are Jeanne et Gaston and Bistro La Promenade (fka Promenade des Anglais) though neither have cassoulet.

Wow. I'm surprised about Gascogne. While I thought the food was just OK, I really adored that garden space!
Is it just cassoulet you're looking for?
