The most recent chowhound thread about Thai food I could find is from 2008, so thought I'd check in again to see what's changed.
I'm looking for a nice Thai restaurant for a business dinner. Arun's is (unfortunately) out, so I'm looking for someplace else that's in the city, with delicious food, and with a nice atmosphere (i.e. not hole-in-the-wall, even if its a fantastic hole). Any recommendations? Thanks!
I am not aware of any Thai restaurant other than Arun's which I would consider upscale. There are a lot of Thai restaurants that are well kept storefronts, but nicer than that... not really. About the closest thing I can think of is Thai Sookdee in Evanston, whose decor is a bit nicer than most (and which has some great Thai dishes, especially the tom kha gai soup), but even that does not really fit into the "nice" "business dinner" category, and of course it's not in the city, although it's not far. I recently had dinner at Joy's Noodles and Rice in Lakeview, where I thought the food was pretty good; I sat in the outdoor patio in the rear, which was pleasant, but it's still pretty much hole-in-the-wall. Sorry I can't help beyond that; maybe someone else here knows of a place.
