Best source for fresh (or frozen, but not dehydrated) coconut?
Im looking to cook up a bunch of S indian food, for which ill need to source several cups of, ideally, freshly shredded (unsweetened, obviously) coconut. I could do with frozen in a pinch, but would ideally like somewhere downtown (s of 34th street) with high turnover, freshly shredded/grated coconut.
Can anyone attest to the availability/freshness at any of the Curry HIll grocers? what about Dual Specialty in the E Village? i dont have the time or hardware to buy whole coconuts and make my own, unfortunately.
