Hard Shell Crabs Near Aquarium

Hi, I will be attending a wedding in October, in Baltimore, and am staying at the Intercontinental Harbor Court right across from the aquarium.

I have the July issue of Baltimore Magazine and it lists many restaurants for hard shell crabs. However, I don’t know which ones are close to the hotel.

Any help would be appreciated in recommending restaurants for hard shell crabs within walking distance of my hotel or, at most, a ten dollar taxi ride.

My only other issue would be that the crabs are Maryland crabs if they are in season.

Thank you.

Hi, thank you all so very much for the recommendations. I chose LP Steamers on Friday night and it was the perfect place. No tourists, amazing crabs and ambiance. The waitress was really nice and we all had a great time.

    I really appreciate your help.

Wait a second, my husbands friends went to LP Steamers on Friday, and we were at a wedding on Saturday... I'm very jealous we didn't get to get our crabs :( - we were at the Royal Sonesta. They did have great crab cakes at the wedding... but I truly missed the hard shells.

We'll be at a wedding too, and on Sunday on the way home I really would love to stop for MD crabs. So - on the way home we will be leaving Baltimore, heading North on 95, Given that where would you go for the best crabs? Only caveat is they have to be open lunch time. thanks!

A few minutes past Fells Point, in the neighborhood of Canton, there is Bo Brooks crab house. Back in the day they used to be the shiz when it came to iconic Baltimore crab houses. In 2000, they moved to this Canton waterfront location. They have a crab deck if you're looking for that vibe. Famous athletes still frequent Bo's...

Maryland crabs are in season through December. October is prime season for crabs as they're getting ready for hibernation and are full. Unfortunately, I get my crabs from a shack on outside of Baltimore, so I don't have any suggestions for around the Aquarium.

As stated above...this is the perfect time to come to MD for crabs. You will need a cab from your hotel to get to any place worthwhile. The closet would be LP Steamers on Fort Ave ...... it is a neighborhood type of place with a cool rooftop crab deck. You could also take a cab to Canton Dockside in Canton and I believe there are 1 or 2 places in Fells Point area for crabs.....all short cab rides away.....Fells Point is about a one mile walk so it is doable.

Thank you so much for your help.

Looking at a map LP Steamers does not look too far from the hotel, am I correct?

Back in the 60's when I visited Baltimore pretty often for business I liked O'Brycki's and Buddy's Beer Garden. I know that O'Brycki's is gone does Buddy's still exist??

Again, thanks for the suggestions, if you have any others please post them.

It is not too far....but still too far to walk....probably 1.5 miles or so...

It may be a $15 dollare cab ride but if the Crab Deck at Capt. James is open I have had good Chesapeake Bay Blues there. It is located and the corner of Aliceanna and Boston. I would only go if the Crab Deck is Open and they have local crabs. (The main restaurant is shaped lik the prow of a ship and I wouln't set foot in there.)
