We will be driving to Death Valley to look at the purty flowers on Sunday. We will most likely be taking the 14 to Redrock Randsburg Road to Garlock Road to the 395. Any recs for places to eat along the way? Will also entertain places to stop. We will (hopefully) be leaving quite early. TIA!

Be sure to stop at Indian Wells brewery to buy their beer and sodas. And to stop at Still Life Cafe in Independence. If you're way chowy and sure to go, call them in advance and see if they'll be serving couscous, one of the owners, although French-raised and educated is originally from Morocco.

Also, clal the furnace creek inn in the park and see if the dining room is open. And check out the Amargosa opera house in Death Valley Junction

In case you didn't see my DV thread below, seems like the consensus is that there aren't really any chowish places near DV. Furnace Creek Inn sounds overpriced and mediocre from what I could gather. I would pack good food and beverages for your day trip.

Not sure if Tehachapi will be on your way, but linked a post below for a rec in that area. We will be visiting someone in Ventura and then driving out to DV from there in about 2 wks. so please report back w/ any finds. Enjoy the wildflowers!
