Aladdin Halal Restaurant And Pizzeria (Berlin, CT): something new and noteworthy off the Pike!

I stumbled upon Aladdin Halal while googling for something completely different. THANK YOU, YELP--whattafind! The reviews I read had me craving falafel big time. As one reviewer had kindly suggested, "Be sure to ask for hot sauce on the side." What that meant specifically, I didn't know, but if you like it HOTTTTT, you are in for a treat.

The falafel, made to order, was served in a nice, warm, crisp pita with lettuce, tomato, onion and hummus. And the hot sauce! Well, don't let looks fool you. It looks almost creamy, like vodka sauce. IT IS FIRE! The man who brought it over to me said, "Be careful." He wasn't kidding. An hour later my lips were still tingling! Holy hotta jalapeƱos! $4.99 for a hearty, fresh sandwich unlike you can get anywhere else near here (that I know of). Looking for options on the otherwise slim pickins of the Pike? Try Aladdin. It's not fancy, but it's DELICIOUS! It's on the little side street you take to get to Home Depot.

  1. I am so bummed to report that there is a sign on the door "closed for good." This was my favorite place in that area. I will dream of the day I have falafel that good again.
