California Homemade Food Act AB 1616 passed

La Times article: http://www.latimes.com/business/money/la-fi-mo-governor-1616-homemade-food-20120921,0,6155634.story

We are gonna need some bigger farmers markets....

Prediction #1: A boom in garage-based coffee roasting businesses. San Diego will have more coffee roasters than breweries by 2015.

Anyone else care to venture a guess?

Did you think this wasn't happening before?

The only change that I see is that now Chowhound will let us post about places to buy good eats from non-commercial sources (e.g., "like my neighbor sells really good cupcakes, 2 for $1!")

Mucho mas (non-meat) tamale vendors on the streets of San Diego.

Read the fine print, those tamales vendors are still going to have to be licensed and where ever they make their product will have to be inspected, licensed and meet food safety and santitation guideline. I have no doubt that some of them will gladly get licensed. The ones on the street? Probably not so much since they don't have to be registered or licensed SOB.
