Pho Thai Son Restaurant location on Broadway (between Brunswick and Prince Edward) has been in a serious blaze (grocery store too). I haven't seen it myself, but I suspect it's beyond salvage :(

Had lunch at their E.1st/Renfrew location on Tuesday. Asked boss lady what's happening with their Broadway operation. She said the building is being reno'd and they *will* be re-opening in a few months.

Dang ! PTS is one of my faves for pho, and bun thit nuong cha gio :-(

Hope they rise out of the ashes one day soon. Guess in the meantime I'll have to trek to their 1st Ave location.

I love their salad rolls - perfect on the go lunch for 6 bucks, and the peanut sauce is spicy!
I hope they re-open, my go to for a quick lunch in my hood.

Feel bad for the market owners - hope they had insurance! I shopped weekly at that market. Sad.

It is a bit hidden. It is on the Renfrew side of the T&T mall at 1st and Renfrew.

Dhaka Fish & Biryani continues to Please-outstanding food and personable service in a warm family atmosphere.

Friuticana is moving further north to the old Field's location a smart move by a place I always stop at-even though Polo Market usually gets most of my business.

Manohar Vegetarian Bakery quite a new addition to the hood-not one of the dreary vegan variety but a real cross section of old & new world style baked goods-exceptionally well priced too the chocolate cake was a winner @ $1.99/slice.

Perused another newly opened grocery store with lots of Indian goods forget to get the name it's a little tough to keep up these places are coming out of the woodwork!

Guess I walked right by the Venezuelan place forgot all about it until the ride home well there's always next time.

I don't think it would be fair to the residents of Sunset if we lumped them with the Mount Pleasant residents. Fraser St deserves its own thread! It is unsung as one of the best places to shop " ethnic" in the city. Along with Sam's worthy list of places, I should add Thurga, Sabzi Mandi Express, the "big" Sabzi Mandi south of Marine, New Novelty, Fraserview Meat shop ( and their competitors along that short little block. Great South Asian marinated meats), Breka.

Speaking of which I wonder if they aren't the reason Fruiticana has picked up their game of late-the store is much cleaner the Staff sharper-not as good as Polo Market but the change is palpable.

Judging from the pictures I saw on the news this morning I'd say it's way beyond salvage....it was simply a pile of rubble.
