Shangri-la downtown -- anything else other than Momofuku open?

... We're crazy about hotel breakfasts, and saw they have an awesome coffee/espresso machine from outside... Anyone know if all other facilities are up and running yet? Might just pop in to see this afternoon...

I didn't realize that the Momofuku restaurants are not actually part of "Shangri la"... They don't list them on the hotel website at all. I wonder what kind of arrangement Momofuku has for the space. I guess we should be saying "I am going to Monofuku beside the Shangri la" :)

Was just reading the Toronto Star reviews from a few weeks back ( http://www.thestar.com/living/article... )

Heads up that they are doing an open house until Saturday. You can tour the hotel rooms, condo, spa, etc

I've heard from 2 separate sources (both chefs) that the chef left last week after being asked to change the menu.
Both the Shangri La website and the chef's Linked In page seem to think he's still there!

Toronto Life is also reporting this (and quoting this Chowhound thread): http://www.torontolife.com/daily/dail...

Unfortunate that the hotel should lose its head chef so soon, although the Ritz Carlton had a similar problem when Tom Brodi left TOCA after a short (though not this short) stint.

Wow -- $32 congee! This place is out of my league.

+1 I feel poor just reading their menus.

Well, it includes a coffee, tea or juice... so, that is like a $7 or $8 value making the congee only $25-26 dollars!

Wow, crazy prices. $7 for a half of a grapefruit. I guess people that are staying at the hotel can afford it....

The oatmeal breakfast isn't any cheaper. Kinda crass considering it's just gruel... But I guess they've found a demographic that will pay.

Noticed that too!! What a rip off for just a chicken congee. For that price, I would expect abalone and conch in the mix!!

Too bad! The Shangri-La hotels I've stayed in in China have great breakfast buffets with Chinese, Japanese (chawan mushi!), European (fantastic croissants!) and North American breakfast foods.

Bosk has been open for a few weeks now. With all the Chowhounders trying out Momofuku Noodle Bar, I'm surprised there haven't been more Bosk comments.

Certainly Bosk is open. Or at least taking reservations for this week!
