Fantastic Pizza in West L A

Slice Truck on Sawtelle in West L A - I knew it was going to be good as soon as i walked in as it had the distinct smell of a New York Pizzeria. The dough was perfect, the back very crisp and the sauce and cheese oozing with deliciousness. The cheese and tomato were great. If you like spicy - the garlic pizza with red pepper flakes and chunks of garlic was amazing.

  1. About where on Sawtelle? North of Pico?

I normally see the trucks just north of Olympic on the west side of the street (in front of the little mall with Hurry Curry, Little Hong Kong and 2117), but since they ARE trucks, they move around depending on where they can find space.

I see that they give their location as 2012 Sawtelle on their web site: http://www.slicetruck.com/p/location-...

That's the address of their brick-and-mortar.

Do they have any tables to eat in or is this purely a "take away" type of set up?

          1. re: Servorg

There are a few tables outside but it's largely for takeout.

    2. It is a couple blocks north of Olympic on the east side - near Sawtelle Kitchen. There are just a few tables. In my opinion pizza tastes so much better just out of the oven so it's worth waiting for a table. We went on Friday and there was no wait. I am curious to hear what you think because I loved it. There's also a new pizza place across the street, near Sushi Stop. I havent tried it but it has the same concept as 800 degrees.

        Right, thanks for the info.

The new place is Clusi Batusi. I liked the pizza that I had from there last week.

        2. Slice Truck -- I've looked at their online menu. Do they only sell whole pizzas or will they sell slices?

          1. Tried Slicetruck. 3 times.

They do sell slices as well as whole pies.

            Meh.

            1. Tried delivery from their bricks and mortar location on Sawtelle, Saturday night. Got a whole pie (18 inch - This was HUGE pie...bigger than any other I've had delivered lately) plus a large salad with their red wine vinegar and olive oil dressing. I would definitely have pizza from here again. Toppings were quite good (pepperoni, sausage, garlic and red onion) and the sauce and cheese, as well as the crust, were all good. Salad was fine, if nothing too exciting. The left the black pitted olives whole, which is a little harder to deal with, but acceptable. That was a minor quibble. The other two factors which were both a plus. They had an online coupon link for 20% off and their delivery was within an hour on Carmegeddon 2 Saturday night.

This place is definitely my "go to" pizza delivery joint from now on.

Tried Slicetruck for delivery a couple of times. Agree on it becoming my "go to" pizza delivery joint as well, although it's because of the delivery options we have in the area more than anything else. Solid pizza though, nothing mindblowing IMO.

As noted up thread, I bet having it fresh out of the oven at their place could end up changing that feeling (of it not being "mind blowing")...
