best doubles in Scarborough

Hi everyone,

So I'd like to bring my boyfriend some doubles on the way home and since I'd like to surprise him, I can't ask him where to go (I don't know Scarborough that well myself).

Where can you recommend that's on my way (or a little bit out of the way), as I drive home from downtown to 401 and McCowan - ideally in Scarborough so they're not too cold by the time I get to him.

I've looked up reviews but nothing recent, so recommendations are appreciated!

Just to add my 2-cents...
Roti Hut on pitfield makes good fresh, crispy-light doubles, but ACR wins for best flavour, and best overall, especially with their 'pepper' sauce, just great.
I'd also suggest, not for grease-phobics or those who are on a diet, try the Saheena, a crisp fried base of batter with spinach/greens, also topped with the same channa and 'pepper' as the doubles - really great-crispy-crunchy yumminess.

Another vote for ACR, no one can touch them IMO.

I've narrowed it down to Roti Hut, Mona's Roti and Drupati's - any suggestions on which is better? What's the difference?

Are there better ones that I'm missing? Have any of these gone downhill?

I like Roti Hut....but I think ACR on Lawrence and Midland is the better one....

Yes, but it was at least six or seven years ago, and I was very disappointed. Have avoided it since. Aside from the disappointing food, the service was grim. Maybe things have improved?

Just checked and it was 2008 when I added them to the Worst of Toronto thread. Yes, I had a really bad experience. Have eaten many rotis and doubles in my life, but that day was not good.

What was it about them that was off? I would hate to hear that they have declined.

Specifically the Doubles though as the Roti at ACR has always been pretty run of the mill, nothing special. I love the Doubles though.

I don't remember what we had, just that I made a big trip based on recommendations and was exceedingly disappointed. Have not gone again. It is out of the way for me, and given my previous experience I haven't had any incentive, but if I find myself in the area, maybe I'll give it another try.
