Mole-UES Mexican formerly know as Taco Taco review
Located between 89th/90th St on 2nd Ave, this lively cantina fits the bill for neighborhood grubs for the casual night out or after work gatherings in a very layed back atmosphere. Although a bit slow on service, the waitstaff is very friendly and cordial, but perhaps it is a reflection of the kitchen staff to send out food maybey due to prepping fresh made items. As an example, it took over 15 minutes to get my guacamole appetizer to arrive at table. One thing I appreciated was nothing was over salted or overseasoned. We had a delicious cerviche-a little on the sweet side in a pleasant way, shrimp w vegatable, a skirt steak platter and me personally , a burrito that was enough to feed a family of four! Dessert was a tres leche sponge cake which was shared by 3 of us adequately. Overall, I give a big thumbs up for this straight forward, non fussy establishment and will definitely return.

I don't think Mole--a small NYC chain-- has anything to do with the small and late, lamented Taco Taco, which was located diagonally across Second Ave and had a very different menu. That said, the food at Mole is well prepared and the servings are more than adequate. And it has a bar, which makes for a much younger crowd, if that's your thing.
