Airport Food/Restaurants

Bill Hunt Sep 20, 2012 07:37 PM

Just read a story about airport food (I would post the link, but it seemed to want people to "subscribe," to see all of their "Top 25," so will not), and as we spend about 200 days per year, in the air, thought that I'd start this post. There have been others, that were similar, though they were usually questions about specific airports and even terminals.

In that link, one of their "Top 25" stood out for me - Papadeaux (a TX mini-chain) at IAH (George Bush International at Houston). We agree. It was very good, and especially for "airport food." I have only limited experience with the Papas restaurants, as we do have a Papadeaux in PHX, which is pretty good. The one at IAH might have been better (no loud live music?).

As we eat in airports around the globe, we are always on the lookout for good food, and seldom find it.

Here is MY list, and it is limited to the airports, that we find ourselves in most often:

Papadeaux at IAH
Pour La France at DEN
Yankee Pier at SFO

There are some others, but they would be very "Honorable Mention," at least to us. Also, we usually fly UAL out of LHR, and used to love the old UAL International First lounge (but for wines, and not for food), but now, the Star Alliance International First lounge is but a light shadow, even regarding the wines... [Cry]

What are YOUR favorite airport terminal restaurants? No fair listing anything, "just a cab ride away," as I could then mention Alan Wong's on King St, Honolulu, HI, as we HAVE dined there, when changing planes at HNL.

Please let me hear YOUR choices.

Awww... I just passed on Brookwood Farms BBQ at RDU last week, thinking that it would be a shadow of "real" NC BBQ. As it turned out, I didn't get any NC BBQ the rest of my trip! Bummer.

        Neat!

I think that Barrio Cafe is in Terminal 4, and we have been flying IN, but not so much OUT. Will check into that one.

We fly into/out of the others, and will keep our eyes open. All are common airports to us.

        Thank you,

        Hunt

There is an existing thread asking the same question:

Thank you. I did a Search, but guess that my boolean was faulty?

Will check that one out too.

As we are in too many airports, around the globe, we are always looking for good options.

          Appreciated,

          Hunt
