Looking for Mangosteens in San Jose Area

Maelng32 Sep 19, 2012 05:51 PM

Has anyone spotted any Mangosteens in the San Jose area? I've gone to a few 99 ranches but turned up nothing.

About 3 weeks ago I peeked into a store called Fung Shui House in the Vietnamese shopping mall on Silver Creek in south San Jose. About 80% of the inventory of the store was mangosteens. One whole side of the storefront was stacked with big cases of mangosteens. I didn't buy any and I've not tried anything from this place, but I'd start there. Please let us know how it goes.

Ok so I went out there to Fung Shui today and bought a bag of Mangosteens. Not the freshest but since I've never tried them I decided what the heck. Pretty tasty and sweet despite them not being the freshest. A bit more expensive than I thought, the bag cost 18 bucks but I'm sure they can get more expensive than that. Next time I will go there at the beginning of the season, might have more fresher ones but all in all they were tasty.

Your first time tasting mangosteens, you say, what motivated you? Thanks for the follow-up.

Health motivated me. I've heard so much about how healthy and tasty they are I just had to see for myself. I still wish they were more fresher but it still tasted good.

Something that's healthy for you and tastes good as well is worth seeking out! I've been to three of the Vietnamese restaurants in that complex now, will get around to posting about them.
