Dining Well in Camarillo or "Lure Fish House"

I am dining out in Camarillo this Saturday and am looking for something nice.

I am largely unfamiliar with the area so need help choosing a restaurant. The couple I am dining with are both quite a bit older so I'd rather not pick a wilder or younger scene.

In my quest I ran across Trip Advisor whose members have rated "Lure Fish House" as the # 1 restaurant in Camarillo. Anyone have any experience with any of their locations?

  1. Hello, SilverlakeGirl.

Last year we had a wonderful dinner at Tierra Sur at the Herzog Wine Cellars in Oxnard.

The room is very pretty, particularly at sundown, and the service is fine. Oh, yes, the food is delicious!
The crowd is mixed with some young diners and some older diners...and the room is very much alive, yet this is very nice dining.

    Reservations are a must!

I didn't care for it. Maybe I don't know fine dining but my experience was that it is expensive, have a very limited menu and are very snooty. The people that enjoy it the most are the folks who keep kosher because there is no Kosher restaurant to compare it to in LA. They also travel from LA and the SFV to get there.

    2. Ate at Lure once. Solid seafood restaurant, but didn't blow us away. Can be a long wait for a table, not sure if they take reservations. That said, there's not a lot of really nice stuff in Camarillo. Haven't been there in a while, but Aloha Steakhouse on Santa Rosa was pretty good, and it's not far from Leisure Village, so you'll get an older crowd there.

      1. Alas, they insisted on the seniors menu at Coco's ... [sigh]

They are in their 90's [bless them], so we ate with good cheer.
