Female-owned bars?

Anyone know of bars that are run by women? Especially women-owned bars with good happy hours?

Downtown Manhattan preferred but not necessary.

Pegu Club, Flatiron Lounge, Clover Club, Lani Kai, Raines Law Room, and Lanterns Keep are all owned/run by women. Audrey Saunders, Julie Reiner, and Meaghan Dorman, respectively. Look also into LUPEC NYC and Speed Rack produced by Ivy Mix and Lynnette Marrero. You can find Ivy behind the bar at Lani Kai & Clover Club.

Meaghan isn't really at Lanterns Keep too often anymore, I believe—Theo Lieberman is mostly at the helm now. (He's awesome, but decidedly not a woman. ;)

Just to clarify: Lani Kai, unfortunately, is closing. However, it sounds like it's turning into a lesbian bar owned by women...

For something less fancy, we have a number of unpretentious, relaxed lesbian bars: Cubbyhole, Henrietta Hudson, Ginger's, etc... (Why do I know where the great lesbian bars are? One of the great mysteries of my life...)

Because they are, as you said, "unpretentious, relaxed." Lesbian or not, that is my kind of bar.
