Had a delightful meal at this laced last evening. Small but pretty byob in a unnoticeable strip center on Easton road. Run by a classic South Philly family; Dad is cooking in the back. Mom running around and the two daughters were the waiters. Very sweet and friendly, lots of 'how youse liking it' .

There were sadly very few people eating there so they gave us freshly roasted and very spicy peppers and home made lemoncello shots as a thanks!

The food was delicious. We had Cesar salads, bronzino that was terrific, veal and chicken. All 4 of us loved our food.

634 York Rd, up the street from WinterSports and the Super Giant. Less than 5 mins from the WG mall. In a very tiny strip center

A few months ago. Great food. Nothing fancy-small neighborhood place but yummy

We liked it and will be back. I had a wonderful gamberi and polenta appetizer. Also loved the Branzino, which was filleted table side. Very nice service. I hope they are a success.

        2. Any updates on this place? I just got a Groupon, but then checked Yelp. Not so flattering, but then again, there were not that many recent reviews.

          1. Thanks for posting. They deserve more customers. Had 3 meals here so far and never been disappointed. Two different couples who accompanied us to two if the dinners enjoyed it too.

We are also fans. Delicious food, very nice staff. I hope they get more popular; they deserve it. But not so popular that I cant get in!

I just got a Groupon today. What do you recommend?

Mostly everything has been good, though I think the pastas and fish/seafood may be better than the meats

The branzino is good. Not on the menu but they usually have it as a special. I like the homemade gnocchi. They are very nice people.

I don't understand all the bad reviews on Yelp. We have been a few times, alone and with friends. Everyone liked it. Has anyone besides me and CSS been?

We've been there a few times. I think the food and service are excellent. I can't understand why there are so many empty tables, maybe people just don't know about it?

Unfortunate about the Yelp negatives. The word on Yelp is that, for some reason, the reviews are uneven and frequently unreliable, both positive and negative. I only infrequently look at it and unless I can see a trend in the reviews I disregard all. Nice thing about CH is that one may be able to identify regular contributors who seem to share ones tastes or not but are conservative with their reviews and serious about their considered comments.

Well, we got there at 6:30pm last night and the place was packed! Don't know if it was the recent groupon or business is finally picking up. That said, my husband (who has always liked this place) did not enjoy his grilled radicchio special. Radicchio may not be appropriate for grilling. Nor did he like the steak over fettuccine, which he found to be under-seasoned. I thing it's called steak Albertino, and he's enjoyed it before. I liked my homemade gnocchi in tomato sauce very much. The grilled romaine with creamy Caesar not so much (although my husband finished it and liked it). Even with the crowd, service was very friendly and unrushed. The complimentary orangecello is delicious.

We finally used our Groupon last night. They were busy and it seemed as though there were plenty of reservations. WE were seated at the last available table, which was the closest to the door. It wasn't very cold so it wasn't a big deal. Plus we did not have a reservation. We ordered the bruschetta and the caprese to start. The bread for the bruschetta was almost too burnt to eat and the tomatoes on the caprese were very poor quality. Also, the presentation was awkward. The mozz was sliced almost through and the tomato slices were placed in the slots. I ordered the clams and linguine with the white sauce and my husband ordered the penne vodka. The penne vodka was the better of the two entrees. The portions were on the small side, almost like a lunch portion. The clams and linguine dish was bland and lukewarm. Overall, we were not impressed and probably will not return.
