Hunan Seafood Closing Down
The lease for Hunan Seafood Restaurant is up. They’re closing down the location and opening up another one soon. The owner is actively looking for a new restaurant.
No word on whether or not their sister restaurant Hunan Style will also be closing their doors. Owner estimates he’ll find another place in two or three months.

Wonder if they'll keep the same name or not. When their Alhambra location, which was called Hunan's Restaurant, burned down 5 or 6 years ago, they eventually opened as Hunan's Seafood at the current location. (They must have signed a 5 year lease at the time.) But there really wasn't any publicity as to this. It was only when I walked in the new restaurant and recognized the owner that it became clear that this was the replacement restaurant.

re: Chandavkl
Background: everyone knows Hunan's Restaurant re-opened as Hunan Style Restaurant, which is not the same as Hunan Seafood. And there was this report on Chow of Hunan's Style Restaurant being related to Hunan Seafood through cousins: http://chowhound.chow.com/topics/841294#7246408
However, if I am interpreting the available info correctly, the current owner of Hunan Seafood is NOT Hunanese, and is Chiu Chow, which makes the relationship between Hunan Seafood & Hunan Style murky. Correct me if I'm wrong. I'm too lazy to make the calls and the husband/wife team @ Hunan Style is uber unfriendly, despite being recently touted as the "best" Hunanese food in LA on this site: http://www.mitbbs.com/article_t/HuNan...

re: TonyC
Let me clarify. The guy who was photographed explaining to reporters what happened at Hunan's Restaurant when it burned down in 2007 was the same guy who opened up Hunan's Seafood later in 2007. That's how I connected the dots. Hunan Style Restaurant at 529 W. Valley Bl. in San Gabriel did not open up until 2009.

re: Chandavkl
You're referring to:
"Everyone in the building got along well," said John Huang, the restaurant owner. from this LAT pieces http://articles.latimes.com/2007/jul/...The team @ Hunan Style have directly told me, over and over, they ARE the new Hunan's Restaurant. This'd make sense if there's a team of brothers/cousins involved.
However, I have other details that do NOT match the known "facts". Very confused, and almost don't care anymore.
