jillcar Sep 12, 2012 01:56 PM

I want to buy a birthday cake for a man who loves chocolate. Suggestions for the best?

Don't know if they sell a whole cake but the Palm in WeHo has a great chocolate cake.

Warning, although large, a single slice is $15.00.

$15 for a slice of cake is funny. I don't care if James Beard and Julia Childs rose from the dead to make it, that's just laughable.

Buttercake on Pico. Friend turned me onto their chocolate cake, which I don't usually like.

Does the man like dark chocolate or does he have a sweet tooth? If latter, then Susiecakes. If former, then it's a slam dunk for Jamaica's Cakes' Basic Chocolate Cake.

+1 on this - intensely chocolatey and not too sweet.

I might recommend Sweet Lady Jane on Montana.

For chocolate lovers, you might also try Essential Chocolates in Culver City.
