Hey all,

Any ideas for a good place to grab dinner before a concert or game at the Barclays Center? Something relatively casual but good food required! All suggestions welcome.

Thanks!

I've found these two spots to be casual and pretty tasty-both on opentable, which I'm thinking will be a requirement soon for area restaurants, between BAM and the new place.

    Friendly and solid Italian-

But you are pretty close to many spots in Ft Greene and Park Slope, as well as the two you mentioned.

There are not tons of great options nearby. The 3 recs below are all great, but they all popular. Caffe e Vino and Stone Home get a lot of the pre-BAM traffic, so definitely reserve in advance. It'll be interesting to see what else opens very close by, but my guess will be a lot more bars than restaurants!

Within eye-shot of the new "Rust-Bucket" is CORNELIUS on Vanderbilt Avenue and Pacific Street. Excellent Happy Hour craft-on-draft prices and $1 oysters.

The creative chef takes great pride in his work and turns out classic burgers and herbed fries, gumbo specials and quality mac 'n' cheese. Matt the bartender skillfully guides you thru the drinks menu.

A seat near the door nearing sunset is recommended.

The Vanderbilt is perennial crowd pleaser, pretty much good for everyone and you can get in and out relatively quickly eating at the bar.

Kaz An Nou is an amazing French Caribbean BYOB restaurant. Cheap, fantastic food, but small and no reservations so might be tough if you're in a hurry.

I second the emotion on Kaz An Nou. Arrive early and you're likely to be seated without much wait.

I third Kaz An Nou! Depending on the time and day, you probably won't have to wait at all. The food is interesting and great.

The places that David W mentioned in Ft Greene are both good, but a bit of a walk from the Barclays Center. I would suggest Melt

              and Convivium Osteria

Thanks everyone for all the suggestions. We have kind of a big group so decided on Vanderbilt. But appreciate it for the next time, and I'm sure lots of people will start to have the same question when the events start rolling in.
