Ludo Lefebvre, Jon Shook, and Vinny Dotolo Opening New Restaurant on Highland.

Ludo is opening his own first restaurant in LA partnering with the Animal guys in an tiny old Raffaalo's Pizza in a mini mall at 716 Highland in Hollywood, just down the street from Mozza. Not a pop up. Great news for chowhounds. Can't wait to see what they come up with.

From LA Eater "the truck stop themed operation on Highland and Melrose, has been named Le Routier. It will serve a bistro meets fine dining mix " It also sounds like the second restaurant may be a fried chicken spot.

Will he be cooking at either of them, both of them, or is he just an investor/consultant?

The restaurant on Highland will be "a truck stop" (if you saw Ludo on No Reservations a few weeks ago you will know what that means) according to Ludo it will be 80% French and 20% American fare in his intimate 36-seat spot. Can you just taste that fried chicken yet?

I wonder if it will be a no reservation ordeal because 36 seats is tiny.

                    What's a "truck stop" joint ?

Sorry, I don't watch the myriad of Food Network TV shows on the current scene.

Btw, on a separate note, does anyone happen to know what replaced Lou wine bar on Vine near Melrose ?

                    Thanks.

Kind of like a French Diner or a working class luncheonette.

                        Cool, Thanks.

By the way has anyone been to the Canadian-French diner M. Wells in Queens, NY befoere ? That's what your description reminds me of.

The food is probably not going to be like that.

That's ridiculous... either Bourdain is an genius for suggesting the idea, or the entire thing was a product placement for Ludo.

                        Very possible on the latter.

It's now official. Here is the announcement in a quote from Ludo "...we have the space now, we are in construction..It's going to be a fun restaurant, something new for LA. And something new, maybe something that doesn't exist in America."

Unless it's a standing restaurant I don't see how it can be an affordable place and pack the volumne needed to break even.

Should be interesting, both for food and for actually getting a table... ;-D>

Servog I have heard there may be as few as 35 seats in the new restaurant. Will I ever be able to get a reservation? Maybe in early 2016? On a Tuesday in July at 5pm? Should I start calling now?

All tables accounted for by "investors" through the turn of the century from what I hear... (Kidding...have heard nothing about anything...but if there are investors who get first call on tables that will just make things tougher for the great unwashed chowhounds...awhoooooooo!).
