Sorry to say, but you've got limited options (used to live in Madison, and I work in Chatham)...I'd probably suggest you head to Summit to either Hat Tavern (at the Grand Summit Hotel). There's also a tavern (Red Dog, maybe?) at the Madison Hotel--I haven't been but I do have a friend who likes it a lot. Rob's Bistro in Madison? Haven't been, but it gets good reviews here...

If you're determined to stay in Madison or Chatham, non-Asian or Italian options are really limited. Charlie's Aunt in Chatham is a terrific dive bar/restaurant, though. I'm not a fan of the food at Prospect Tavern in Madison, but it's another option.

Our favorite restaurant in Chatham is Brasa Grille. Small place but wonderful Portuguese food. Restaurant run by the owner and his family. BYOB a plus.

I'd go with Charlies Aunt, its casual, and not Asian or Italian. The food is good.
