Jeveli's in East Boston?

Swankalicious Sep 7, 2012 06:24 PM

Mr. Swank has agreed to a field trip! Worth a try? I'd like to suss out a delicious Italian place in Eastie, and I know Rino's is always packed since Guy made his visit.

They're known for their stuffed squid, a menu specialty. It's a good old school Italian resto but, I still prefer Rino's if you can get in.

If you don't mind eating on the early side, I'd say go to Rino's about 4PM - you could probaby get in. The amatriciana (or matriciana - I've seen it spelled both ways) is outstanding. Jevelli's is good - it's more like old school Italian. I used to describe it as Eastie's version of Amrhein's (back when Amrhein's was a neighborhood joint) - good solid cooking nana/noni would make but nothing OMG.

The problem with going to Rinos early is that their dinner menu doesn't kick in until 5 and they told us we couldn't order from it until then.

Interesting - last time I went there (& was able to get in), we showed up at 4:30 & got seated within 5 minutes. We ordered aps, & we given the "regular" dinner menu. We probably didn't place our entree orders 'till after 5 (we were busy catching up so there was a LOT of talk time during the aps).

I like the bar for drinks but the food is just average.

I love Jeveli's. I recently tried Café Rosetti in Winthrop it was perfect. Look them up and give them a try.

          Ahhh...Terminal J.
Went to this place a lot when I worked at Logan, but always just for drinks! A classic spot.
