Anywhere decent to eat in Brentwood (Contra Costa cty)?

It may very well be the case there isn't, but I need to head out here soon for a family event. All past attempts to find anything remotely palatable have been a near complete failure--if anyone can recommend a good brunch/lunch spot, it would be fantastic!

      1. Last November I had an overnight in Antioch and tried Thai Bistro. New at that time, it's on the edge of town next to Brentwood.

I got take-out because it was on the late side, but the room was pleasant with contemporary decor and the owner was quite nice. I got larb and mango with sticky rice. The larb was credible and the mango with sticky rice was perfect. I would go back if I were in the area.

        1. Yeah....my Mom lives out there and frankly I've given up finding a fantastic hidden gem amongst the strip malls. That said, there are 2 places that we usually go to that are actually pretty solid.

          Jalisco's Mexican Restaurant
8335 Brentwood Boulevard Brentwood, CA 94513
Family owned and staffed. Solid mexican food, friendly service, decently priced. Yelp seems to be all over the map, but I've been happy the 4-5 times I've been there in the past 3 years.

          Brentwood Cafe
8500 Brentwood Blvd, Brentwood, CA 94513
Small town roadside cafe, The trucker hats are NOT ironic here. I'm sure there are some Cisco cans in the back but they like to get their veggies from the local farms. I had some asparagus one night that tasted like they had been picked seconds before hitting my plate. The portions are huge and the prices are reasonable. Don't expect a 5 star dining experience and you will probably be pleasantly surprised.

          1. It's been a couple of years, but the Nam Kao Tod at Lone Tree Thai was pretty good when I had it. The bulk of the menu looks pretty standard, but Nam Kao Tod is unusual enough that its presence may point to a better than the usual suburban Thai restaurant. http://www.lonetreethai.com/

I've heard of Lumpy's and the news was pretty good for burgers. Big Kakuna sounds enticing. "Enormous" always goes so well with "sandwich."
