I didn't see any posts on this , so i figured I'd spread the news. Sushi of Gari soon to open in Tribeca. It will be located in the old Bouley Upstairs. One block from Brushstroke Sushi, one block from Takahachi, One block from Ninja, 1 1/2 blocks from Zutto , about 4 blocks from Nobu and Nobu Next Door, and about 12 blocks from Azabu, plus close to little take out sushi places that aren't any good.
With all those sushi restaurants to choose from , I think Sushi Gari will be packing them in. anyway,,,, I will probably go once every few months. Ichimura-san at Brushstroke is more my style.
Anyway, that's the big sushi news in Tribeca. If you want foie gras sushi and you're in Tribeca, that's the place to go for it.

No kidding, so that'll be their 3rd Manhattan outpost after the Plaza food hall? Do you know of other upmarket sushi places expanding, foodwhisperer?

I think it will be Sushi Gari's 4th location. Sushi Roku from Santa Monica has been expanding. 15 East will be opening a rooftop sushi place by Union Square but under a different name. Hatsuhana had expanded years ago , but most branches have closed.

I believe it will open by December. Masato-san will train the chef. Chef unknown at this point. It is in the new hotel, french restaurant downstairs same owners.

I think it is in the new Hyatt opening on 13th st/4th ave. Marco and Joanne are the owners and they deserve all the credit for opening and running 2 great Union Square restaurants Tocqueville and 15 East for such a long time...

There are several new owners, by the way, and it should be awesome.
