Pittsburgh/Monroeville Area

We're heading down from Toronto to stay one night as a family over the weekend. Any recs on must-try places for dinner and Sunday brunch?

We don't want any greasy spoons or whole in the walls regardless of how good the food is so are looking for nicer establishments/areas (but not fine dining).

Many thanks in advance!!

If you don't mind a short drive. Regent Square - Root 174 is very good from dinner and has a brunch. Square cafe for breakfast. Point Breeze - Point Brugge Cafe but usually a line and I do not think they take reservations. Oakland - The Porch for dinner or brunch. Legume for dinner.

        Dinner

        Salt of the Earth
        Root 174
        Cure
Spoon - a bit more upscale but still casual (I wear Jeans)

I'm from the area, now living in San Diego and those are the first places I will visit when I get back. I have reviews on my site if you would like to look.

I like Effort's suggestions. I would do Salt of the Earth, Spoon, or Cure for dinner. Root 174, or E2 for brunch.
