Need a quiet place to take older/hard of hearing parents for early dinner after a show

Hi. Taking my parents into NYC next week to see a Sunday matinee and then meet my son and his girlfriend for dinner. Parents are not adventurous as far as food so looking for american, italian, fish, etc. something not too ethnic.

Lots of requirements: need a quiet place so they can participate in the conversation. would like (of course) good food but not a crazy price.

We will be going to dinner about six pm (I told you they were older) so it shouldn't be a problem getting a reservation.

Advice would be greatly appreciated.

You might like Sagaponack Bar and Grill (Flatiron area). Good seafood, entrees mostly $20-$25. Upstairs seating is usually quiet, and should be especially quiet that early.

You might consider Esca. It's in the theatre district, Italian with a bias towards fish, very good, and should be pretty quiet at 6PM.

Market Table is currently renovating so it's hard to say how loud it will be after. I walked past yesterday and it is pretty torn up right now. I believe they're putting in a new floor.

I guess I should call there. I have a friend who thinks esca is the best restaurant in the city. I was also thinking Trattoria Belvedere which we love but my dad is a real meat and potatoes guy.

Club A is great and probably ideal for your parents. Not too loud - old NY atmosphere - solid food/drink.

The menu at Sagaponick looked good but reviews described it as very noisy.

Bluefin on Broadway ( same building as W Hotel) is a great spot for older people. The fish is fresh and prepared nicely. The place has a nice atmosphere with an upstairs and downstairs. They also serve sushi ( the rolls are decent). The price is reasonable. It is quiet enough to hear each other , and not a problem speaking loudly.

Chimichurri Grill, 609 Ninth (btw 43-44) might work well. It's excellent Italian/Argintinean and has both meat and fish dishes, and it's small and quiet. It's near the theaters and, tho not cheap, won't break the bank.

If you're also considering French food, try Benoit.

Thanks. I will look at the menu. Thinking even French may be too rich for my 80 year old dad's stomach.
