I go on vacation for a week and I come back to ...

A "Firehouse Subs" going in next to the GNC on Boylston St.

I looked up the website and wasn't too impressed. Limited menu of uninteresting sandwiches on Subway (tm) style rolls.

Anyone know about this chain?

Folks I know who've been to one were impressed by the quality of meat and the cleanliness of the stores. That's all I can say, really.

Thanks. Guess I never noticed them working on it.

They have a lot of much better and several similar sandwich competition within 2 blocks of this chosen locale.

Been to Firehouse in other parts of the country. Nothing too special, small step above Subway, but I'd still prefer any mom&pop deli place by far

Much like the Pret a Manger space, Firehouse Subs been 'working' on that space for almost a year now. It was previously slated to open in June. But like you said, they have a sign up now, so that's progress at least.

And I agree it looks like a cross between Quiznos and Subway. No thanks.
