3 days in Portland...first-timers...suggestions?
My wife and I (who live in L.A.) will be spending her birthday weekend in Portland. It is our first time and we'd love to take advantage of Portland's food and wine scene.
We are staying at the Embassy Suites in Downtown and will not have a car but are willing to walk/take public transportation for hours...
We won't be bringing dressy clothes and generally prefer casual eateries. We are looking for "slow food", "locovore" and "farm to table" offerings as well as food carts, markets, etc. One of us does not eat seafood but we are otherwise very flexible. Desserts and brunch are terrific. We also love great cocktails.
THANK YOU a million times! Please spare me from having to rely on travel guides that recommend the Chart House and Leonidas.
Do you have anything more specific? There are a lot of posts like this on the board that can help you out. If you are looking for a market walk up to the PSU Farmer's Market on Saturday.
Don't worry about not having dress clothes. Almost everywhere is casual. There really aren't formal places in Portland.
My personal favorite is Le Pigeon.
