NASSAU REPORT

  • 1

Just returned from Nassau which I really loved. We stayed at British Colonial which has the Aqua Restaurant and Bullion Bar. Can highly recommend the small plates at the Bullion Bar! Downtown I recommend Via Cafe which has a really European vibe (and some of the best crab cakes in the world). Plus the girls behind the bar were very beautiful which my boyfriend enjoyed! We went twice to Cafe Athena - all their food is fantastic, we adored the lamb gyros. Cafe Matisse was very pleasant - I had a lamb shank and M had lobster ravioli. A fun place to visit is Fish Fry at Arawak Cay which is filled with seafood restaurants. We went to Goldie's and had truly wonderful conch fritters and whole red snapper ($13 - a steal in Nassau). The highlight of our trip was lunch at the Graycliff Hotel, the dining room is wonderful and as we were the only ones there we were treated like royalty. We started with carpaccio, M had sirloin steak, I had very good rack of lamb and we finished with an interesting take on bread pudding and chocolate mousse cake. After we had a tour of the wine cellar (once upon a time a dungeon it is ideal for wine!). They have over 250,000 bottles of wine including the world's oldest bottle of wine you can buy for a cool $200,000 (a German apostelwein dated around 1740). Highly recommend the Graycliff!
