Low Carb Followers, Do you DEDUCT YOUR SUGAR ALCOHOLS???? YES or NO
My Endocrinologist believes the sugar alcohols should not be deducted from total carbs......the only thing she believes in deducting is the fiber. What do you find works BEST for you and how you feel as a result of eating that way?
Thank you for sharing,

I don't, because they're carbs and are digested by most folks to at least some degree. Also, I think "net" carbs is a slippery slope when it comes to fiber, too (a little more or less than 50% of fiber is also digested). Rule of thumb is that if they don't give you gas and/or the runs, you're digesting the SA and you must count it all. If you get symptoms, it indicates that at least some, possibly all, is going undigested, but in that case, why would you consume it at all? :-)

re: BEACHAHOLIC
I never get gastric reactions to SAs unless I have a huge amount, which I've done exactly once (frosting made with 10x xylitol). That means I digest them. OTOH, I get horrid gastric reactions to Jerusalem artichokes (inulin) and Sweet Perfection, both otherwise healthy sweeteners.
