We're looking for very nice (non-chain) dinner in Huntsville, Texas.

I'm from Dallas and I have a date with a gal from Houston. We want to meet halfway for a nice (non-chain) dinner with wine for next Saturday evening.

So, we're looking for a comfy, date worthy non-chain restaurant in Huntsville that serves excellent, chef made food with a decent wine list.

Does this exist in Huntsville or, very close nearby?

After a little research, I've come up with The Homestead on 19th. It looks good but, is there anyplace else someone would recommend?

Twin, Dallas to Houston is a wasteland for sit-down restaurants. Have you looked around Bryan/ College Station? Everything around Huntsville is chained- the restaurants and the convicts. I do encourage taking home a frozen crawfish-stuffed butterflied chicken from Buc'ees in Madisonville, and a peppered smoked pork tenderloin from Woody's in Centerville. Both are extraordinary. Bring a small cooler. I offer you a money-back guarantee on both items.
