Really Yummy Fried Chicken: Thompson Diner!!

Had the fried chicken for the 1st time today @ the Thompson Diner. OMG...was it ever delicious! It had a really crispy coating, and the chicken was really really moist. It was also seasoned really well. It comes with cheesy mashed potatoes, but I got onion rings instead. The onion rings could have been seasoned better, but they were awesome!

I'm a big fan of Stockyards. Up until today, their fried chicken was my favourite. I have a new favourite now! The fried chicken @ Thompson's Diner is one of the best versions of fried chicken I've ever had!

    how big is the portion of chicken? half or quarter?

      It a big enough order that I couldn't finish it. If I remember correctly, there were 4 pieces of chicken.

        Last night we got 4 pieces - 2 drumsticks and 1 breast with wing attached that had been cut into 2 pieces. Not cheap at $18 but in my mind worth it!

              Oh I wanted to try them but it would have been deep fry overload!

        Had this last night after escaping from the Nuit Blanche horde. It was SO good. Craggy and crunchy and mahogany brown...AND incredibly juicy and flavourful. Wow. Thanks for pointing this out!

        What Stockyards does have is that buffalo-style hot sauce on the side. I think Thompson only had Sriracha and Tabasco.

          It has flavor now? That's good to hear. The two times I've been there, the only flavor the chicken had was from the hot sauce I doused it in.

            It was actually seasoned nicely. The onion rings, on the other hand, were not seasoned at all.

              I agree the onion rings could use a hit of seasoning, but still they are the best in the city! Bring some smoky hot paprika and shake ; )

                And now I have to agree with you...even under-seasoned, the onion rings were unreal!

              That was my experience as well - crispy, moist, but bland. Still much prefer Stockyards.
