There used to be a drive-in just down from Masonic Street (towards Ocean Beach), just of Geary Blvd. Can anyone remember the name and/or street it was on?

13 cent hamburgers. 1st help yourself soda dispenser that I can recall in San Francisco. Definitely Munchies.

Time frame late 60's, early 70's.

Across the street from where the car wash is now. +/- a city block.

Thank you for confirming my memory of that time, which for some reason is a bit hazy. I don't recall the soda dispensers, but I do remember the 13c burgers.

Sorry, a restaurant. It was a "walk-up", where you could get burgers, fries, shakes, etc.

Sure sounds like Munchies. I only knew of it in the early 70's, when I lived nearby. I'm pretty sure it was gone by 1980, if not earlier. By the way, you don't need to apologize for not specifying "restaurant"; this is, after all, a food forum.

In the 60's, there was a Mel's, I think just beyond Parker, maybe set back from the street.

Would that have been Munchies? This was in the early 70's, and IIRC it was in a little dead-end alley off the south side of Geary.

What is"IIRC"? Was it on Street where there is now a car wash, or another street where Lock World is? Maybe as far back as 60's????
