Hua Hin - dining recommendations required

Hi all,

Heading to Hua Hin in a few weeks with the family (wife and two young kids). Everything I've read so far seems to suggest that there are not a lot of great 'authentic' dining options in Hua Hin? I'm hoping that has changed over time and that there will be some places to get real Thai food hopefully specific to the region and some specialities. Anyone have any advice or personal tips on where to go? We're quite adventurous travellers and eaters although now we have two kids (aged 1 and 3) we obviously cannot climb down a mountain to get to a beach side restaurant anymore :-)

Thanks in advance,
Rick

hua hin is famous for its seafood. try supatra by the sea. very expensive by local standards but prices are really not bad at all compared to back home. had one of my best king prawn dish there (i'm from hong kong and have had my fair share of the best and freshest seafood). one popular place by the pier was chao lay but frankly it was only average at best.

Thanks for the tip. Judging by the lack of responses it doesn't seem there are too many great options in Hua Hin :-(

yea, was quite disappointed by restaurants in hua hin town. way below par, especially for a foodie. another restaurant you might want to try is Let's sea. pretty decent food compared to the rest of town. both of these places are pretty famous and frequently visited by 'elites' from bangkok. i would suggest u to go to supatra on ur first day, so if you like it you can always go back. (order the expensive king prawns and not the cheap stuff which was only so so) we hired a driver whose family own one of the most famous curry places in hua hin and he took take out to the hotel for us (place was too hole-in-the-wall for us). if u want i can try to find his contacts.

Sounds like good advice. Sure if you can find the details about the curry place and if it was worth eating then that could be interesting... although with two young kids we may opt for take out too :-)
