Boar's Head "Jerk Turkey Breast"

Just a heads up.

Stopped by our local Martins supermarket yesterday & noticed they had a new Boar's Head turkey breast in the deli display - "Jerk Turkey". It was clearly marked "Bold and SPICY". Since anything bold & spicy is a food favorite for me, I decided to try a 1/2 pound.

Back at home, & not expecting much, I tried a piece. Can you say YOWZA WOWZA!!!! This is by the far the very spiciest, hottest, cold cut I've EVER had in my life. And the whole slice tastes like that - not just the seasoned trim. Trust me - this is NOT something you'll want to tuck in your child's lunchbox sandwich. But for adults who love spicy food? Seek this out!!

I'm already planning on trying the Boar's Head site recipe using this for "Jerk Turkey Quesadillas".

    Boar's Head makes some nice stuff. Was brought up to ask to "see" whatever I was considering before deli person started slicing. BH... not necessary. One of the markets I go to is Shoprite. They carry a brand called Black Bear... nice stuff in meats and cheeses.

      I'll keep an eye out. It would be good hottened up with melty havarti on some of the neat breads I'm finding, especially a crustry one with sizeable chunks of fresh garlic baked in it.

        Boar's Head debuted two new spicy cheeses with the jerk turkey that are both good as well, and both much spicier than I anticipated. Chipotle gouda and three-pepper colby jack might be perfect for your spicy quesadillas.

          Yes - the recommended cheese for the quesadillas IS thier new "Chipotle Gouda" (which the market also had), but after tasting the extreme heat in the turkey, I'm thinking a milder cheese might be better.

            Okay, picked up another pound of Boar's Head "Jerk Turkey" (can you tell we love it??), as well as a 1/2 pound of the Chipotle Gouda, which was not as hot as the turkey, but with a nice smoky Chipotle edge to it. Will definitely be adding it to our quesadillas tomorrow.
