Tucson hidden gem is open for dinner

Claudette Aug 30, 2012 08:34 PM

Cafe a la Carte is now open for dinner, and it's a real gem: lovely rooms, easy parking, good service, and eclectic menu. The specials tonight were surf and turf, cajun pasta, and something I couldn't remember. Even though the salmon in my salad was a bit over-cooked, I highly recommended this place: http://www.tucsonmuseumofart.org/visi...

BTW: I just had the worst lunch at Teresa's Mosaic - has it gone downhill after the remodel? I ordered carne asado tacos (to compare them with the others I'd had in town) and the waitress brought me some inedibly dry carnitas tacos and told me that's what I had ordered! I'd always found the food uneven, but coupled with bad service is the last straw.

We've had good experiences at Teresa's - and we all know that restaurants can have an off day. Try it again to be fair.

I agree about the off days, but after 10 meals there - half of them mediocre, two of them good, an d three of them awful, I give up.

Okay, this is enough of a sample. Sorry to hear the discouraging word about Teresa's.

I'm thrilled to hear Cafe à la C'Art is still delicious. I went there very frequently for lunch in my bright college days, and it was every bit the hidden gem then that it still is now. Darn it, now I want their apricot chicken salad sandwich with those heavenly fries they turn out.
